Grant from the McMillen Foundation
Animals Benefit Club was the recipient of an extremely generous grant from the McMillen Foundation. This grant will be used solely for the rescue and rehabilitation of so many animals in need. The McMillen family adopted precious Barney from ABC in May of 2000 and beautiful Fiona about two years ago. All of us at ABC are deeply grateful for this generous grant which will enable us to save more lives.

Critical Care Corner: Indigo
Indigo Needs ACL Surgery
As luck would have it, Indigo has managed to tear the ACL in her other leg. Her orthopedic veterinarian said it would most likely happen at some point and, unfortunately, it happened sooner rather than later.
We now need to raise $2,000 to repeat this surgery on her other leg. Please look into your hearts and find a way to help sweet Indigo. Any size contribution helps make a difference!

Keep Your Pets Safe on the Fourth of July
The Fourth of July is cause for celebration, but remember to keep your pets safe and sound during the festivities.
If you’re planning to attend a fireworks display, please leave your pets at home, preferably with another family member or someone they know. The loud noises from the fireworks can cause pets tremendous anxiety, stress, and even lead to heart attacks.
Pets should never be left outside unattended during the evening fireworks festivities. The loud noise can scare even the most confident animals, causing them to jump walls, dig under gates, or otherwise escape the safety of your home.
If you are unable to stay home with your pets during the fireworks demonstrations, make sure that they are all secure inside the house, and leave a TV or music on for them as a pleasant, comforting diversion.
Enjoy the holiday weekend, and have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Critical Care Corner: Brady
Brady was Neglected and on the Brink of Death
Just a few months ago, Brady was on the brink of death. Animals Benefit Club shared a startling image of the 2-year-old canine when he was first rescued.
“He was just bones, there was no flesh, there was really nothing to him. He was just skin and bones,” said Andra Jeffress of ABC. “This is a case where neglect turned into abuse,” said Jeffress.
Brady spent three weeks in the hospital. It turned out he was suffering from an upper respiratory infection known as valley fever. He was also under fed and severely underweight. Today, Brady is well on his way to making a full recovery and he is looking for a forever home.
Thanks to Fox 10 Phoenix for covering Brady’s story.

Thank you, Sarah!
No tricks for ABC’s Halloween 2015, just treats for all the animals! ABC volunteer Sarah held a donation drive for ABC during her neighborhood Halloween block party. Thanks to Sarah’s hard work and her generous neighbors and friends, her second annual Halloween drive was a great success! In addition to raising many needed items for all the animals, the donation drive gave Sarah the chance to chat with everyone about ABC’s mission and all of the amazing cats and dogs currently at the shelter looking for their loving forever homes. Thank you, Sarah!
