Pet surrenders & re-homing
Animals Benefit Club does NOT accept pet surrenders. Here is a list of resources provided by Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) to learn about your options and possible alternative solutions.
Emergency stray services & reporting animal abuse cases
Contact AZ Humane EAMT at 602.997.7585 Ext. 2073 to request an ambulance for a sick or injured stray animal in the valley, an animal in distress or if you suspect an animal is being abused or neglected. For abuse cases, you may also fill out their online form. Services are free and available daily from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
You may bring sick and injured stray pets to the AZ Humane Sunnyslope Campus, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
If you find a stray
Immediately:
- Check for a pet ID tag and attempt to contact owners
- If the stray is wearing a current Maricopa County license tag, call 602-506-PETS (7387) and follow the prompts to retrieve the owner’s information
- No tags? Visit the nearest vet office or PetSmart for a free microchip scan
- Report the found pet online at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control
- Submit the found pet at Lost Dogs Arizona
Take as many of the following actions as you can:
- Post flyers around the neighborhood where you found the stray pet*
- Share the stray pet on Nextdoor.com* to be seen by your neighborhood community
- List the stray pet in the lost & found section of Craigslist*
- Post the stray pet to the Straydar Facebook group (you need to join the group)
- If you’re unable to hold on to the pet, check if anyone in your personal network is able to foster until the owner can be located or the pet rehomed
*For pets without any tags, anyone claiming the pet should clearly and accurately identify the pet or any items being worn before being released.
If you lost your pet
Immediately:
- If your pet was microchipped, confirm that it is up-to-date
- Report your lost pet online at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control
- Submit your lost pet at Lost Dogs Arizona
- Review the found sections of the following sites EVERY DAY
- Don’t give up hope, take action!
Take as many of the following actions as you can:
- Post flyers of your pet in the neighborhood where they were lost
- Share your lost pet on Nextdoor.com to be seen by your neighborhood community
- List your lost pet in the lost & found section of Craigslist
- Post your lost pet to the Straydar Facebook group (you need to join the group)
