Busy and Challenging Year

Summer 2019 Rescue Animals

Download the Summer Letter

It’s been a very busy and challenging year so far. Just this summer, ABC has rescued so many animals in need it would take a letter several pages long to tell you about all of them. Needless to say, the medical costs have quickly added up to several thousand dollars.

Here are some stories of the animals we’ve rescued this summer.

Sweet Orange had been shot in several places with a BB gun. He was emaciated, dehydrated, bleeding and couldn’t use his left leg. We immediately took him to our veterinarian who performed surgery to remove the pellets from his face, leg, and body. He has since gained five pounds and regained the use of his leg. Now he’s happily meowing for everyone to come and pet him!

Honey was abandoned on the canal in central Phoenix. Despite attempts to locate her owner we were unsuccessful. She underwent extensive dental surgery which required removal of all but two of her teeth. Poor Honey must have been in terrible pain. Her disposition has gone from depressed and disinterested in food or interaction to a happy, energetic girl who loves food and attention!

Precious Hailey was found wandering the streets, extremely thin and dehydrated. Her teeth were in horrible condition and she was terrified of everyone. We immediately took her to our veterinarian who performed a comprehensive dental cleaning with extractions. Now she plays with other dogs, loves people, has gained weight, and is a very happy girl!

Sweet Remy was found wandering around south Phoenix. His abdomen appeared to have been burned and he was emaciated and dehydrated and he was only seven months old. Despite his terrible treatment he is the sweetest little guy you would ever want to meet! He’s now healed, neutered, and ready for his forever home.

Gemini is a beautiful Siberian Husky. She was hit by a car and rescued by an ABC volunteer. We attempted to save her leg through reconstructive surgery, but unfortunately her leg couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated. She is currently recovering and soon her foster family will be adopting her.

In addition to these medical costs, we’re facing expensive facility repairs. We had to replace an air conditioning unit, our septic system is requiring several thousand dollars of repairs, and one of our buildings needs the flat roof replaced.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 before the end of summer and we urgently need your support.

Please help with a gift of $25, $50, $75 or whatever amount you are able to donate. As always, ABC has no paid administration – 100% of all donations goes directly to animal care and support. And please remember, your donation is tax deductible.

Make your donation today! Donate online or mail a check payable to Animals Benefit Club to 3111 E St John Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032. Thank you for your continued support.
