Give Hope This October

We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during these challenging times. Despite our new “normal” ABC continues to rescue and give hope to homeless animals.

Take a look at these adorable rescues from earlier this year.

Isabelle was found wandering the streets on a cold, rainy January afternoon in Phoenix. She was also extremely pregnant and trying to find a place to have her babies. Fortunately, she was rescued by an ABC volunteer. She was immediately taken to a foster family where she delivered her six babies within the following 24 hours.

Can you imagine how frightened she was while lost in the freezing rain, ready to deliver her babies with no shelter, food or warmth?

While in her foster home, Isabelle faithfully cared for her little family – Bean, Cooper, Dash, Hazel, Maria, Willow – while receiving high quality food, cuddling in a warm bed, and soaking up all the love. She also stole her foster mom’s heart! 🧡

Will you help cover the puppies’ expenses and chip in just $10? As always, your donation is tax deductible and 100% goes directly to animal care and support.

Beautiful Isabelle and her pups are grateful for your support, we are too!

Sincerely,

Andra Jeffress
ABC Board Chair

Thank you to Microbiome Labs

Thank you to Microbiome Labs

Microbiome Labs hosted a MegaGiving Charity Sale last year and with the help of their amazing clients they were able to donate $10,000 to Animals Benefit Club!

This money will be used exclusively for veterinary & medical services, including Critical Care for new rescues that require substantial funds to give them a chance at a normal life.

From all of us at ABC, THANK YOU to the team at Microbiome Labs, not only for your generosity, but also for the work you do to help support the well-being of our four-legged friends.

About Microbiome Labs:

The origin story of Microbiome Labs is a classic tale of forging new frontiers, complete with discovery, adversity, and a leap of faith. Neither founder set out on a path to start his own supplement company, but through persistent curiosity Dr. Tom Bayne and Microbiologist Kiran Krishnan stumbled upon an amazing opportunity.

With a rich background in research, Kiran noticed that many supplement companies were lacking sufficient clinical data, which inspired him to design trials that were more affordable and fitting for the supplement industry. He then expanded his skill set into product development and formulation for a number of retail supplement companies. Eventually, he was hired to study probiotics and discover what would become the next big probiotic in the industry: Bacillus spores.

Before Kiran discovered the spores, Dr. Tom took a step back from supplement manufacturing and settled into his own chiropractic practice. As his practice began to blossom, he found himself on the forefront of Functional Medicine, uniquely focused on his patients’ gut health. For years, probiotics had proven so ineffective and inconsistent that he eventually quit using them in his practice altogether – that is, until he saw the research that Kiran had uncovered.

With Dr. Tom’s clinical expertise and Kiran’s probiotic research, the serendipitous pair formulated the first all-spore probiotic known as MegaSporeBiotic. After a great deal of clinical validation, the team set out to launch the product in the practitioner market by attending medical conferences.

In 2014, the company exhibited at only 6 conferences and signed on a handful of new accounts. However, as the product sales began to grow, the company chose to reallocate the majority of the profits back into research, with only a minimal amount leftover for marketing. This unorthodox approach is far and away what continues to set Microbiome Labs apart from the rest of the supplement industry.

In doing so, Microbiome Labs hopes to encourage other supplement companies to follow suit, thereby raising the bar of the supplement industry as a whole. In 2018, Microbiome Labs attended over 148 conferences, initiated and/or completed 14 clinical trials, and provided key solutions to thousands of practitioners, changing over 344,000 lives… and counting. Join us in our mission to Make Vibrant Health Accessible for All.

Critical Care Corner: Paco

Paco has an Infected Leg From a Dog Attack

Despite his situation Paco has the sweetest disposition!
Despite his situation Paco has the sweetest disposition!

A good Samaritan found Paco injured, bleeding and unable to walk in Hermosillo, Mexico. He was taken to a local animal shelter where they bandaged the fractured leg, but didn’t properly clean or treat his wounds, as we would later determine. Paco languished in the shelter for over five weeks until ABC learned about the situation through a rescue partner. ABC agreed to take him in for evaluation and treatment. The initial consultation showed that his leg was fractured by a dog attack, which then became severely infected. ABC is now trying desperately to save Paco’s leg. However, it requires an advanced surgery and rigorous rehabilitation for it to be a successful outcome.

Paco has his leg cleaned and freshly wrapped after the evaluation.

We are attempting to raise $6,000 to help cover the cost of his surgery and treatment. Any size contribution will make a difference! Please make an online, tax-deductible donation or mail a check to Animals Benefit Club, 3111 E St John Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. Include “Paco” in your donation description. All funds beyond our estimate will go towards future Critical Care animals. Thank you!

A Second Chance

Our names are Buddy and Bella. We’re all smiles now that we’re safe and loved but that wasn’t always the case. We were surviving on a construction site in Mesa during the middle of the summer. We lived off of scraps and handouts from the workers. They tried their best to help us, but we were frightened. Luckily, volunteers from Animals Benefit Club rescued us. We both received much needed medical care from the vet, including surgery to repair Bella’s hernia. Now at ABC, we get daily meals, a cozy bed, and play time outside, which we love!

As a token of our gratitude please download our Buddy & Bella Holiday 2019 desktop wallpaper. Whenever you see them smiling we’re sure it will put a smile on your face too!

Through no fault of our own we ended up homeless, but because of ABC we’ve been given a second chance. Their Street Rescue Program helps to reduce the pet overpopulation and alleviate the suffering of homeless animals like us.

Phoebe was found roaming the streets without a collar or tags. She may be pint-sized, but she has a big heart and loves people and other dogs, especially her best friend Annie. Annie was rescued by an ABC volunteer from behind a shopping mall where she had been eating trash to survive.

Nugget (available soon) is the most extraordinary cat. He was found waiting for food in a feral cat community. He was so friendly and outgoing it was obvious he wasn’t feral, so a caretaker rescued him. Despite the severe, painful inflammation of his mouth and gums and extensive extractions, his sweet personality never wavered, not even when he was given his pain meds!

Emma was found wandering around rural Camp Verde. Now that she’s safe at ABC she loves to run around and play with her friends. This youthful, energetic girl needs a home with an active family and a tall fence.

Strawberry (adopted!) was born at ABC after her mom was rescued from the streets. Thankfully this helped prevent Strawberry and her three siblings from having babies of their own and contributing to the pet overpopulation.

Gemma was abandoned in a box along with her medical records. We can’t figure out why, because she is super affectionate and quite the social butterfly!

It was your support that provided us with food, shelter, and medical care (and lots of love!) when we needed it the most. Please make a tax-deductible gift today and help ABC continue to give a second chance to more animals just like us!

Busy and Challenging Year

Summer 2019 Rescue Animals

Download the Summer Letter

It’s been a very busy and challenging year so far. Just this summer, ABC has rescued so many animals in need it would take a letter several pages long to tell you about all of them. Needless to say, the medical costs have quickly added up to several thousand dollars.

Here are some stories of the animals we’ve rescued this summer.

Sweet Orange had been shot in several places with a BB gun. He was emaciated, dehydrated, bleeding and couldn’t use his left leg. We immediately took him to our veterinarian who performed surgery to remove the pellets from his face, leg, and body. He has since gained five pounds and regained the use of his leg. Now he’s happily meowing for everyone to come and pet him!

Honey was abandoned on the canal in central Phoenix. Despite attempts to locate her owner we were unsuccessful. She underwent extensive dental surgery which required removal of all but two of her teeth. Poor Honey must have been in terrible pain. Her disposition has gone from depressed and disinterested in food or interaction to a happy, energetic girl who loves food and attention!

Precious Hailey was found wandering the streets, extremely thin and dehydrated. Her teeth were in horrible condition and she was terrified of everyone. We immediately took her to our veterinarian who performed a comprehensive dental cleaning with extractions. Now she plays with other dogs, loves people, has gained weight, and is a very happy girl!

Sweet Remy was found wandering around south Phoenix. His abdomen appeared to have been burned and he was emaciated and dehydrated and he was only seven months old. Despite his terrible treatment he is the sweetest little guy you would ever want to meet! He’s now healed, neutered, and ready for his forever home.

Gemini is a beautiful Siberian Husky. She was hit by a car and rescued by an ABC volunteer. We attempted to save her leg through reconstructive surgery, but unfortunately her leg couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated. She is currently recovering and soon her foster family will be adopting her.

In addition to these medical costs, we’re facing expensive facility repairs. We had to replace an air conditioning unit, our septic system is requiring several thousand dollars of repairs, and one of our buildings needs the flat roof replaced.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 before the end of summer and we urgently need your support.

Please help with a gift of $25, $50, $75 or whatever amount you are able to donate. As always, ABC has no paid administration – 100% of all donations goes directly to animal care and support. And please remember, your donation is tax deductible.

Make your donation today! Donate online or mail a check payable to Animals Benefit Club to 3111 E St John Road, Phoenix, AZ 85032. Thank you for your continued support.

Gemini Rescued After Hit by a Car

UPDATE: This “tri-pawed” had a long recovery time with a wonderful foster family. They spent many sleepless nights by her side as she healed from her injuries, surgeries, and abandonment. We are happy to share that she is a foster “failure” and has officially been adopted by her foster family! Visit our Happy Tails page to see photos of her in her new home.

This sweet Husky girl is still young and we want to give her the best chance at a long and happy life.

We need to raise $4,000 to help cover the costs of Gemini’s surgery and medical care. Any size contribution will make a difference! Make an online, tax-deductible donation today or mail a check to Animals Benefit Club, 3111 E St John Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. Please include “Gemini” in your donation description. COMETS Coin Drive Raised $1,400!

COMETS Leadership Class Coin Drive

Desert Springs Preparatory sixth grade COMETS leadership class once again organized a successful coin drive fundraiser to support ABC. COMETS stands for Community Outreach Means Everyone Teams for Success. Through their team work and dedication they helped raise over $1,400 for our cause, we’d call that a success!

COMETS Leadership Class Check Presentaton
COMETS Leadership Class Check Presentation

After the check presentation, the class learned about the importance of pet safety, microchipping, and spay/neuter. They got to meet and spend time with some of our adoptable cats & dogs, including wonder dog Hunter, who lost his right eye and leg after being hit by a car. They also learned how a microchip scanner works and got to try it first hand.

Thank you to teachers Mrs. Berg and Mrs. Pela, the COMETS, and their parents, for supporting ABC for a 5th consecutive year!
